Yacht Design
SUMMER
The Italian nautical design has been synonymous with excellence for over 80 years, but few people are aware about the complexity of Naval Architecture and How do a designer build a yacht, what are the steps to follow, from concept to design to creation, in the context of an industrial process.
The Yacht Design course aims to train students to face the new conditions of the market, to learn about new types of boats and new methods of shipbuilding. Special attention will be given to the ecological innovations introduced in the market of today – a market much more sensitive to the preservation of our world. Studio sessions will be supported by visits to shipyards and by tours on yachts.

SUMMER
The Yacht Design course aims to train students to face the new conditions of the market, to learn about new types of boats and new methods of shipbuilding. Special attention will be given to the ecological innovations introduced in the market of today – a market much more sensitive to the preservation of our world. Studio sessions will be supported by visits to shipyards and by tours on yachts.

At the end of the course students will have to create a work of interior design of a boat (sails or motor yacht), including 2D drawings and rendering of both external and internal parts.

This Yacht Design course is designed for everyone who loves the sea and knows the world of sailing; people who aren’t necessarily technicians or naval architects, but who definitely want to deepen their knowledge of these technical topics.
To attend this hands-on course the participants must have a good knowledge of 3D modeling and know the program Rhinoceros. They must be reasonably good at freehand drawing and have a basic knowledge of Photoshop.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive a certificate of attendance. If the student wishes to convert the class hours attended in Italy into academic credits, he or she will have to arrange a suitable conversion with his or her faculty in the home country, before attending the course in Rome. QIAD can supply the specifications of the module in order to assist in this conversion. As reference, the summer program is equivalent to 3 ECTS.
