New Design Scenario of Self Made in Italy

Summer Course

2 weeks Full Time from July the 19th to July the 30th 2021

Over a two weeks session the participants will experience a creative journey of various design professionals. Particular attention will be given to the close relationship between the project idea and production phase. For this reason the course investigates the potential of wood, iron and leather materials in order to understand the full range of possibilities for a designer. Through workshops, studio visits and appointments with different material suppliers the participants will understand the real life aspects of the production process towards completion of the design project. The level of difficulty will be adapted to the composition of the classes (Introductory for High School Students and Advanced for University groups).

Summer Course in Rome

2 weeks – Full Time in Rome

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

In the saturated market of industrial products, self-produced design is becoming increasingly popular. Self-production is, theoretically, a kind of affirmation of autonomyin practice, often it translates in a real self-promotional strategy. Other times, it’s rather a step towards forms of highly artisanal forms of production, between single pieces and small series. Self-production can become the main way for young designers, moved by the renewed interest in manual and direct experimentations on the subject.

WHO IS IT FOR

For people of all ages who are curious to experience the artisanal aspect of “made in Italy” design. For anyone who loves hand-made and self-made design work and looks for an improvement of the personal creative portfolio.
